Tool Making at Goodfish

Goodfish no longer manufactures tools in-house, but our New Product Introduction (NPI) team manage the complete tooling process on behalf of our customers. By working with a network of validated tool makers, they ensure every tool meets strict standards for quality, lead time and reliability.

From the start of a project, the NPI team provide design input, select the right supplier and manage tool manufacture through to validation. Once approved and in production, they continue to support the tool under our in-house MRO programme, covering maintenance, repair and optimisation.

This approach gives our customers the flexibility of outsourcing tool manufacture with the assurance that every tool is guided, checked and approved by our engineers.

Injection Moulding Tooling

Our NPI team oversee injection moulding tooling projects from design through to production. Each project begins with a review of the application, material choice and output requirements. Working with approved tool makers, the NPI engineers make sure the tool is built to specification and capable of meeting production needs.

Once a tool is complete, the team run trials and validation runs to confirm performance and make any adjustments required. This hands-on involvement means customers can move straight into production with confidence in consistent quality.

Extrusion Tooling

For extrusion tooling, our NPI engineers oversee the design and validation of dies produced by trusted tool makers. They ensure each die is manufactured to the correct standard, tested for performance, and stored securely for repeat use.

By combining external manufacture with in-house validation and maintenance, we give customers confidence that their extrusion tooling will perform reliably over the long term.

Reshoring & Tool Transfer

Reshoring or transferring tooling requires detailed checks before production can begin. Our NPI team take responsibility for assessing tool compatibility, planning validation trials, and ensuring that tools run smoothly in our machines.

This reduces risks, avoids downtime, and helps customers move quickly into UK-based production. With the tooling then maintained under our MRO programme, customers gain both security and long-term value.
